The Canton of Valais is one of the 26 cantons in Switzerland. It’s located in the south-western part of the country. The Canton of Valais is divided to Lower and Upper Valais, and contains 13 districts. The large amount of snow up on the highest peaks helps the winter tourism, which is very developed in this area.
Among the most popular winter ski resorts are Matterhorn, Zermatt and Saas Fee. In the village of Saas Fee enthusiasts have the opportunity to ski even in the summer season, thanks to the high altitude (1,800 m. a.s.l.) and the Saas Glacier. The traditional Saas Fee chalets accommodate tourists, offering charming atmosphere and excellent services. The resorts often host different winter and summer events, such as the Snowboard and Freeski European cup, the Ice climbing European cup, the International Alpine music festival, etc.
